Additional Care

Short-term Rehab

Our therapists will develop a customized plan-of-care centered around restoring strength and making a full recovery.

Outpatient Availability

All of our rehabilitation therapies are available outpatient so that patients can get all the benefits of care while staying in their own home.

Hospice Care

Hospice is often recommended to maintain or improve the quality of life for individuals nearing end-of-life. We focus on providing each patient with a dignified and respectful experience, and our staff is well-trained to answer any questions you or your loved ones have as you encounter this stage in life.

We provide Medicare-certified beds and top hospice providers in the area as your family undergoes this transition in their lives. We focus on the unique family dynamics involved during this process and offer care for not only the body but the mind and spirit through focused care rooted in Christian spirituality.

Respite Care

At Abbey Senior Health, we provide short-term care for loved ones who regularly receive care from a family member in need of some temporary help. Without the family member’s aid, the relative in need might otherwise be admitted to a nursing home or assisted living community, but through our respite care services in O’Fallon, MO, they receive high-quality health care for a short time while their relative takes care of other life circumstances or simply receives a break.

We provide care and attention for respite care that is equal to the care given to our full-time residents. Our respite care guests enjoy services such as private rooms, three nutritious meals, daily activities open to all residents, on-call medical staff available at any time of day, priority access to our nursing home facilities, use of our short-term therapy programs*, and much more.

Additionally, we understand the emotional and physical needs of caregivers is just as important as the needs of those receiving care, and we make every effort we can to accommodate families where the caregiver might be experiencing the following:

  • Travel needs, either for personal reasons, other work, or a vacation

  • Need for a restful break from caregiving

  • Need to care for things around their own household

  • Need for a change of pace

  • Need to transition loved one to long-term care and trying it out for a short period of time

Palliative Care

Many people mistakenly believe that, like hospice care, palliative care is only for patients in their last days of life and the final stages of a terminal illness. However, it’s available to those who have recently been diagnosed all the way through the treatment process.

While palliative care is provided in a clinical environment as opposed to the patient’s home, care teams work to ensure that the patient feels as comfortable and attended to as they would at home.

Palliative care is often a better choice for patients who may not be eligible for hospice care, as palliative patients don’t need to meet the Medicare requirements in place for hospice care. It’s also available from the time of diagnosis all the way to the end-of-life stage, and it can include curative treatment, unlike hospice care, which excludes curative treatment and is limited to those with a prognosis of six months or less.

Balance Therapy

Aging patients may experience many risk factors for falls over time such as dizziness and loss of strength or feeling in the hands and feet. Certain medications or medical conditions, such as prolonged bed rest, may exacerbate the risks involved with falls. Even some unsteadiness can lead patients to decide that balance therapy is right for them simply because they want to prevent falls from happening.

Enrolling in our Balance Master therapy program may be right for you if you have experienced a fall and want to improve outcomes and continue living as independently as possible. Our therapists restore a patient’s confidence in balance and minimizes the damaging effects following a fall, using a wide variety of treatments.
